Hockey still struggles to get the attention it deserves - the internet gives us a new range of effective ,easy to use options to promote your clubs interests.

I created a new hash tag on Twitter today #clubsthatrock. I have noticed especially since the end of last season and with notable successes in Europe, some clubs have radically improved their websites and begun making really effective use of Facebook and Twitter ( Reading HC being an outstanding example) and it is a really new  and exciting trend that other clubs ought to be giving far more consideration to. Apathy and complacency are  going to leave some clubs backwatered as the media savy ones  find greater success in devloping  a much higher public profile.

I even suggested today that England might like to consider  my idea of awarding kite marks to clubs that excelled in on-line promotion of their activities- good for the club and good for the game. With the Olympics coming up, we should  see a further surge in interest in the game nationally and all clubs, if they are not going to be left behind , they need to be ready and not continue to sell themselves short on line!

I can help you reach your team and club goals. Don't leave it to hit and miss!

Summer is a time for the dedicated hockey faithful  to fill the void left by the end of season with tours, tournaments and summer league competitions. But it is also offers more  time to reflect and prepare for the coming season and to take another look at how best to attract new players and club members and build up the club, teams  and make yourselves more attractive to visitors , investors and sponsors.   I am currently working with one local set of teams at photo shoots at the NW Regional Hockey Centre , Bellevue and have  completed three visits on their behalf  with one more currently booked.

I can provide a range of great player action shots

Check this out and see what one client got from a single evening shoot, several short games in a row

I am currently  helping clubs and teams take a fresh look at their internet image. I’m  currently offering  virtual giveaway photo-shoot deals  from as little as £30 a session  for
those who appreciate  that , for a small investment, I can provide a bank of website optimised professional quality action shots, player and team portraits and generic images. These give
folks that hire me a  big picture bank that will see them through the next year and from which they can regularly draw for web and other promotional uses. I offer the same quality and expertiose that I have built my name on from  international hockey  coverage .

My work is to the highest professional standards whether at international or grass roots level.

Check out these shots and imagine the variety of uses  my client can put them to.

As competition increases, sticking to traditional ways is self defeating. It's time to make some noise in new ways.

The more ambitious and successful clubs nationally are already addressing  marketing issues with impressive revamps of club websites and effective use of social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. Both rely on regular input to maintain your presence throughout the year. Nothing does more harm to your ambitions than a dodgy, sleepy tired old  website, gives off all the wrong signals as does a Facebook or Twitter that just  gets an update when there is an ”r “in the month and seems the effort of just one person.

Once a website is up to par, Facebook and Twitter are the easiest way to keep things fresh and that should involve everyone not just some overstretched volunteer who knows the techie stuff .  That person could just walk away taking with them the knowse  on how to add content or mainrain and modify and exisiting template resulting in you havinmg to abandon it as a ruin or have a complete rebuild. This is a team sport brothers and sisters and everyone should be playing their part on and off the pitch. Clubs and teams rely on cash flow and funding. The more people on board, the more your fundraisers will net.  Make yourself noticed , give sponsors confidence that you will give them something back by developing / extending your audience. Hire a professional if you can for the core stuff yes but also get members involved, amateurs and even anyone with a  camera phone! Start sharing now! Those who can text each other have the requisite skills to help market their club!

My game photo-shoots will give you great individual action shots of your players

Check this additional work I have done for a client MORE HOCKEY ADDICTS MIXED GAMES PHOTOS

That’s hundreds of shots in the bag and I have one more session for that client, images to take next from the men’s team plus teams photo shoot  to give my client a complete  collection for promotional use.

The new season is fast approaching. Call me any time on my mobile 07989 300 104  or message me via Facebook to book a shoot and discuss your photo needs.

You might see me at Bellevue, the Regional Hockey Centre Manchester at some of the remaining MHCC Summer Leagues games  , but I am no longer in any contractual  partnership with
the owner-organisers . Photography is my living .  I only turn up to shoot a team or club  that has booked me and then I leave! ( You can ask me while I am there of course.)

PLEASE NOTE – My basic hockey photo shoot price is for web  optimised versions  only of images for website and social media use and that deal does not include the full resolution
images which will cost you slightly more.  That is well worth considering especially if , for example, you want to sell team shots etc as your own fundraiser.

(I don’t post anything from such hockey shoots on Facebook other than links to where they can be viewed ( but not tagged ) on my Flickr and that also prevents them being lifted easily ,free of charge, as  Facebook profile pictures

CALL ME FOR NEW SEASON LEAGUE GAME COVERAGE – up to  500 quality images from a 70 minute game!  Don’t forget your key games, tournaments and other club activities- I can help promote  your club’s interests effectively through my pghotography and offer sound advice on how to get the best from social networking platforms.

2011-2012 SEASON

When the new season arrives you might like to give me a call.

Looking to attract sponsors and keep your existing sponsors happy with increased  web and social networking activity ? Book me to come along to none of your games.  My work can give you plenty of material to make a bigger shout on the internet , Facebook for example.  The more people that see you in photos on the net in  the team shirt for example, the more valuable that advertising space becomes to potential sponsors and is appreciated by your current sponsors.  Get  fencing! You can sell advertising space for banners around your pitch. I’ll make sure you get some shots with any current sponsors banner in the back ground they can actually use and you can Facebook them too. Let your sponsors see you are doing that. But use that for  examples to show potential sponsors the value of them buying  space on your fence.  If any sponsor signs or banners are in dodgy condition, tell your sponsors or, if necessary take them down if they are really tatty! Makes them look bad and you look bad. I have shed loads of other marketing ideas but that’s all I am prepared to give away. Hire me for a photo shoot and then I’ll be glad to tell you more at no additional charge!

I will feature Sponsor logos on shirts, one of your mosty valuable advertising spaces!

  1. An impressive share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a coworker who was
conducting a little research on this. And he actually ordered me breakfast simply
because I found it for him… lol. So let me reword
this…. Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending time to
discuss this matter here on your site.

  2. I think that what you typed was actually very logical.
However, consider this, suppose you added a little content?
I ain’t suggesting your content is not good,
however what if you added a title that grabbed folk’s attention? I mean John Coxon Photography
Blog Blog Archive ARE YOU READY FOR HOCKEY 2012 ?

is a little plain. You might peek at Yahoo’s home page and
note how they write post titles to grab people interested.
You might try adding a video or a related picture or two to get people excited about
everything’ve got to say. Just my opinion, it would bring your posts a
    little livelier.
